500 sappers from private firms of international partners will arrive in the Kherson region to carry out humanitarian demining.
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, as of December 8, 2022, the so-called "mine pollution" in Ukraine covered about 170,000 square kilometers, which is more than a quarter of the country's territory.
This was announced by the head of the Kherson regional military administration Alexander Prokudin in Telegram. According to him, they will arrive next week.
Since the approaching start of the sowing campaign in the Kherson region, humanitarian demining has been of great importance. It is necessary to ensure farmers' safety during their work performance.
Now there are 43 crews of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region, which are engaged in the operational demining of roads, electricity, and gas supply facilities.
