The only reliable way to build a sustainable and lasting peace in Ukraine is to end the Russian war based on the Peace Formula proposed by President Zelensky. The emergence of any alternative proposals could be seen as the worst-case scenario.
This was stated in Brussels before the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council by the head of Lithuania's foreign policy department, Gabrielius Landsbergis.
"The main thing that should not happen (at the peace conference in Switzerland) is the emergence of alternative peace plans. This is exactly what we would like to avoid. We have already seen attempts by China together with Brazil to propose what they call a 'way forward'. The only way forward should come from Ukraine, which is both a victim and an organizer. So there is hope that in Switzerland, the majority of participating countries will unite and support President Zelensky's Peace Formula and allow Ukraine to move in this direction. The worst-case scenario would be the emergence of alternative paths," Landsbergis said.
As reported, today in Brussels, the formal meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council is taking place, the main issues of which are the resolution of the crisis in the Middle East and the response to another attempt to escalate Russian aggression against Ukraine.
On June 15-16, an international peace conference on the settlement in Ukraine will be held in Switzerland. Leaders of many democratic countries have already confirmed their participation in the "peace summit."
