The defense forces are holding back the pressure from Russian forces and responding firmly to any attempts to advance the Russian military. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the morning briefing on May 18th.
On the Kharkiv front, there were two attempts by Russian forces to breach our troops' defense in the directions of Hlyboke-Lypci and Buhruvatka-Starytsia. The situation is under control of the Defense Forces. Our defenders in certain areas are engaging in assault actions to improve tactical positions, as well as conducting area clearance operations. Near the town of Vovchansk, Ukrainian units are strengthening their defense to enhance tactical positions.
On the Kupiansk front, six skirmishes occurred. Our units successfully repelled three Russian force attacks. There are ongoing clashes in the Kyslivka-Ivaniivka and Krokhmalne-Berestove directions. The situation is under control of Ukraine's defenders.
On the Siversky front, Russian forces made five attempts to breach our troops' defense with a concentration of efforts in the Rozdolivka area. The situation is under control.
On the Kramatorsk front, the number of clashes has increased to 15. The defense forces held their positions. The situation is tense but under control.
On the Pokrovsk front, the number of clashes remains unchanged. Since the beginning of the current day, Russian forces have launched 25 attacks on our positions. Also, there are ongoing combat actions in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, and Nevelske. The Russians persist in attempts to advance towards Novooleksandrivka.
On the Kurakhiv front, the Russian forces attempted to breach our troops' defense 16 times. Combat actions continue in the areas of Paraskoviivka and Vodiane. The situation is under control.
On the Vremivsky front, Russian forces made three attempts to improve their tactical position. Our troops repelled two attempts by the Russians to advance towards Staryi Maiorsk. Another battle is ongoing in the area of Rozdilnyi.
On the Prydniprovske front, the Russians continue attempts to displace Ukrainian soldiers from footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
Our troops repelled 13 attacks in the area of the settlement of Krynky. No positional losses were allowed during the battles.
On the Lyman, Toretsk, Hulyaipole, and Orikhiv fronts, the Russians did not conduct offensive or assault actions today. The defense forces are provided with appropriate forces and means, reinforced with reserves to seize the initiative on the battlefield.
