On December 15, three containers with medical supplies and essential goods worth about 150 thousand euros arrived from Hamburg to the Odessa port by rail. The goods were purchased at the expense of the German company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and donations from its employees. The aid was delivered through HHLA's own European transport network and is intended for residents and medical institutions of the Odessa region and other southern regions of Ukraine, including de-occupied territories.

“We feel an obligation to provide humanitarian assistance, given the suffering of the population of Ukraine due to the ongoing Russian aggression. Therefore, we intend to declare our solidarity with the people in the Odessa region by delivering essential goods. I would like to thank all the staff who organized the delivery and joined the humanitarian campaign with their professional skills or donations,” said Angela Tizrat, Chair of the HHLA Executive Board.

"From the first day of the war, the team of the Odessa region's Humanitarian Coordination Headquarters (HCS) has been collecting information about the needs of the population and migrants. We organize transport and warehouse logistics, distribute humanitarian aid and control its use. Both domestic and international donors are involved in covering the needs. We are sincerely grateful to the HHLA company, which responded to our request and purchased medical supplies and essential goods for the residents of our region," commented Oleksiy Cherny, Chairman of the Odessa Gerion General Staff.

"We are absolutely sure that thanks to the close cooperation of the leadership of all involved companies of the HHLA group with the Humanitarian Coordination Headquarters (HCS) of the Odessa region, humanitarian assistance will be delivered to where it is most needed. This is only the first batch of aid, but we plan further cooperation on supplies humanitarian cargo," said Svetlana Yarovaya, Vice President of the SE Container Terminal Odessa, Hamburg-Ambassador.
