The implementation of the Grain from Ukraine initiative is gaining momentum. This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky following a working visit to the Chornomorsk grain terminal, where he inspected the bulk carrier Valsamitis. Recently, the vessel was loaded with Ukrainian grain to be sent to Kenya as part of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian food initiative.
The Minister’s working visit was also joined by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine Tomaž Mencin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Matula, as well as representatives of the World Food Programme (WFP) – WFP Representative and Country Director in Ukraine Matthew Hollingworth and Deputy Country Director in Ukraine Marianne Ward.
According to Mykola Solskyi, the bulk carrier Valsamitis will deliver 25,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat to Kenya. Along with Slovenia and the Czech Republic, this shipment was financed by the United Kingdom, Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy. The shipment is organized with the support of the World Food Programme.
