In Barcelona, there are plans to create a center for the treatment and rehabilitation of injured Ukrainian soldiers. This cooperation aims to attract critically needed assistance to Ukraine from charitable organizations and international institutions.
The Santa Clara Monastery Foundation in the Kingdom of Spain has become one of the leaders in this cooperation.
Partners provide prosthetics, rehabilitation, psychological support, and recovery for border guards who have been injured while defending Ukraine against Russian aggression.
This time, accompanied by the head of the foundation, Sister Lucía Caram Padilla, a border guard from the Sumy detachment returned to Ukraine. He sustained combat injuries in early March 2022 while bravely performing defense tasks in Chernihiv and even after being injured, did everything possible to save his comrades trapped under rubble from enemy artillery shelling.
In Spain, Vladislav underwent knee joint transplantation, so now the border guard will be able to return to a full life to help achieve the much-needed victory alongside all Ukrainians.
Additionally, during the visit of the Spanish delegation to Ukraine, members of the first detachment of border guards received an off-road vehicle and a Nissan pickup from the Santa Clara Monastery Foundation. Charitable donors also provided equipment for endoscopic research and clothing items to one of the medical institutions of the State Border Guard Service.
During a meeting between Sister Lucía Caram Padilla and the Head of the State Border Guard Service, Lieutenant General Serhiy Deineko, participants discussed the implementation plan for the initiative to rehabilitate over two hundred children of Border Guards Heroes and pupils of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service Lyceum in the Kingdom of Spain.
"War is ruthless; it takes the lives of Ukrainian defenders and robs our children of their childhood. Although it is difficult for us, children are our hope for the future, and for their sake, we must do our best, even in times of war," emphasized Serhiy Deineko during the meeting.
"When the full-scale invasion began, we got acquainted with the military from the State Border Guard Service, and later we started sending fighters for rehabilitation to Spain not only from the State Border Guard Service but also from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We managed to evacuate about 80 wounded and cancer patients. In this way, we began to cooperate with medical centers in Spain. We also managed to organize a trip for medical workers from Odessa to train in Barcelona. Our goal for the next few months is to create a medical center in Barcelona where injured military personnel can receive the medical assistance they need, including rehabilitation," Sister Lucia noted.
The Head of the State Border Guard Service thanked the representatives of the foreign delegation for fruitful cooperation, especially for the treatment, rehabilitation, and assistance in prosthetics for injured border guards.
Many ambitious cooperation projects lie ahead, and the prospect of their implementation gives Ukrainian defenders the most important thing - hope, because with the help of the entire civilized world, border guards are ready to defeat any enemy.
