The port operator Multi-Link Terminals, which handles goods from ships in the cities of Helsinki and Kotka, is half-owned by the Russian company Global Ports.

This was reported in an investigation by Yle.

Multi-Link Terminals handles goods from ships entering the ports of Vuosaari (Helsinki) and Kotka. This operator is also involved in transshipment.

The results of the investigation by Svenska Yle showed that the operator Multi-Link Terminals is half-owned by the French company CMA Terminals and half-owned by the Russian company Global Ports.

The latter is one of the largest port operators in Russia, operating in several Russian ports. The main shareholder of Global Ports is the Delo group of companies, with a minority stake owned by a subsidiary of Rosatom - Atomenergoprom.

Moreover, one of the owners of Delo is the Russian businessman and former State Duma deputy Sergey Shishkarov, whose name is on the sanctions list of Ukraine. The chairman of the board of Multi-Link Terminals, Albert Likholyot, is also on the sanctions list.

Multi-Link Terminals is not the only company in Finland with ties to the aggressor country. In the transport sector alone, Svenska Yle found 40 transport companies owned or controlled by individuals with Russian citizenship, according to the material.

As of February this year, Finland's customs office had initiated over 740 preliminary investigations related to sanctions violations against Russia over the two years of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
