In Ukraine's war, at least five senior officers of the Russian Armed Forces have been eliminated in the last two weeks, according to data from investigative journalists in the aggressor country.

This information is reported by the Russian service of the BBC.

Media representatives have updated their own list of confirmed and verified losses of the Russian military on the Ukrainian front. According to their assessment, compared to the previous summary from December 15 and as of today, 1,175 individuals have been added, including one colonel and four lieutenant colonels.

The material specifies that these are individuals whose names journalists from "Mediazona" and the BBC were able to establish through open sources, and not the actual number of casualties, which is evidently much higher.

According to Russian investigators' estimates, the year 2023 has been "more bloodshed" for the Russian army compared to the previous year when they documented at least 15.5 thousand names of occupiers killed.

"By the end of 2023, our list contains over 40.5 thousand names, and we expect that the data for 2023 will increase by at least a third, especially given the recent bloody assaults," writes "Mediazona."

Journalists added that they can "confidently say" that this year, the Russian Armed Forces experienced even greater losses than in the first year of the large-scale war against Ukraine.
