A monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932-1933 has been erected in Jerusalem.
This was reported by Israel's ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky.
'The monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Ukraine of 1932-1933 has been installed in the Rose Garden in Jerusalem,' he noted.
The Director of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide, Lesia Hasidzhak, emphasized that this is the first monument to the victims of the Holodomor in Israel.
It is located in the Rose Garden between the Knesset and the Supreme Court of Justice. The authors of the monument are Canadian artists of Ukrainian descent, Lyudmyla Temertey and David Robinson.
'The significance of this event is immense, and our gratitude to all those involved is boundless,' said the museum director.
Ukrainians experienced three Holodomors in the 20th century: 1921-1923, 1932-1933, and the famine of 1946-1947. The most devastating was the famine of 1932-1933, which is recognized as the genocide of the Ukrainian people carried out by the Stalinist regime.
