The Russian command has concentrated the largest number of personnel in the Pokrovsk direction – 100,000 troops; in the Novopavlivka direction – over 60,000.

This was stated on television by Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic grouping of troops Khortytsia.

“The largest number of Russians overall is in the Pokrovsk direction – 100,000. In the Novopavlivka direction, the last time we checked, there were over 60,000,” Tregubov said.

Speaking about the situation near Chasiv Yar, the spokesperson reminded that battles for the city have been ongoing for nearly a year. However, despite Russian claims, the Russian forces still does not control the city.

“The point is that the Russians need to get past this city in order to advance further toward Kostyantynivka, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and so on. They have not succeeded — Ukrainian forces are holding their positions in the city, and there is no Russian control over it,” Tregubov explained.

He also noted that the Russian forces often announces the capture of settlements without any justification.

“Where the Russians get these claims of supposed control over the city, I don’t know. At this point, they are simply making things up from scratch. Not even exaggerating — just flat-out inventing. Today they decided they ‘took’ Chasiv Yar. Back in February, they supposedly ‘took’ Toretsk. Same story,” Tregubov added.
