Russians plan to publish disinformation about the Ukrainian leadership in foreign media, focusing on nicknames. This was stated by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to him, the disinformation campaign being prepared by the Russians is not only about the media but also about the information space. The campaign will target the military-political leadership of the country, but specific nicknames are not commented on at the moment.
Yusov reminded that the current period is crucial among Ukraine's partners and allies, with key issues being coordinated for the continuation of support for Ukraine in both defense and economic spheres. It is during this period that the adversary is preparing to intensify disinformation and psychological operations against our country.
"If we talk about the external audience, the goal is to weaken support for Ukraine worldwide, divide the pro-Ukrainian coalition, and provide additional conditional arguments for opponents and critics of Ukraine globally," clarified the representative of military intelligence.
He added that a whole range of plans for disinformation is being prepared, including the production of materials in the media, and "people with a certain background" who have worked in the territory of Russia may be involved in these plans.
Yusov explained that the main target is countries of the free world with democratic institutions and a broad set of freedom of speech tools, which Russian special services directly and indirectly exploit.
"There won't be anything new there. That is, there will be repetitions of old Russian narratives about a failed state, corrupt Ukrainians, compilation of facts from different periods. Yes, one of the characteristic features will be the focus on the nicknames of people who, in this crucial period, are negotiating the continuation of support for Ukraine from the Ukrainian state. In other words, they will be the main target of the attack," specified the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
