The telecom operator Kyivstar wants to increase its number of users in Ukraine.
"On all territories under the control of Ukraine, our population coverage is above 90%. We want to achieve, and this is one of the licensing conditions, a population coverage throughout Ukraine at the level of 97-98%," announced Olexander Komarov during a Business Breakfast.
It was previously announced that the parent company of Kyivstar, the Dutch communication and technology holding VEON, is expanding its investment plans in Ukraine and allocating $600 million for the reconstruction of telecom infrastructure and the development of modern telecommunications technologies in Ukraine over three years.
Olexander Komarov stated that this investment plan is gradually being implemented.
According to him, if Kyivstar behaved in a highly conservative manner, the investment-to-revenue ratio would be approximately around 15-16%.
"This is a kind of hygiene condition that allows the operator to maintain the quality of communication and gradually develop in our geography," he said.
Additionally, the President of Kyivstar mentioned that if the company implements its plan, the investment level will be approximately 21-23% of revenue, taking into account the planned revenue figures for the next few years. Komarov confirmed that at least a quarter or even more of the investments would be directed towards development associated with expanding the network in economically less attractive areas.
Investments will be directed towards:
- LTE technology, high-speed fourth-generation mobile internet.
- Building villages, new sites constructed in areas where there was no coverage before.
- Reconstruction.
- Development of digital services based on Kyivstar.
- Expanding the ecosystem of digital services complementary to Kyivstar customers
