The Latvian Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of CVR(T) armored reconnaissance vehicles to Ukraine, which were previously purchased from the United Kingdom. For operational security reasons, the exact number of vehicles was not disclosed.

This was reported by Delfi.

Since 2023, Latvia has committed to providing military aid to Ukraine amounting to 0.25% of its GDP annually until 2026. To date, Latvia has already transferred helicopters, self-propelled howitzers, and other types of weaponry to Ukraine.

The contract with the UK, signed in 2014, included the delivery of 123 armored vehicles, 116 of which were modernized. The first deliveries took place in 2015, and an additional contract was signed in 2019.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds stated that the procurement of new infantry fighting vehicles to replace the CVR(T) is nearing completion. These vehicles are needed to rearm the Latvian army and participate in tactical operations.

The CVR(T) is a family of British tracked armored vehicles developed in the mid-20th century. They are known for their high mobility and versatility, capable of performing a wide range of tasks, including reconnaissance, patrolling, fire support, and casualty evacuation.
