One should not expect Russia to abandon its methods and simply wait for the end of the war with Ukraine. It will continue to organize various provocations in Western countries.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas Anušauskas, reported by Žinių radijas.
He made this statement after the Estonian authorities arrested 10 suspects in December for espionage in favor of Russia. They were tasked with committing various criminal acts, including breaking the windows of the Minister of Internal Affairs and a journalist's car, as well as destroying monuments.
Also, in Latvia, a man was identified and detained who, at the end of January, defiled the monument to the leader of the Lithuanian partisans who fought against Soviet rule, Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas, in MerkinÄ.
"One should not expect Russia to abandon its methods and simply wait for the end of the war with Ukraine, the disruption of neighboring countries' societies, demonstrations of what they are capable of," the minister said.
He added that Russia would try to show that institutions cannot resist such hybrid attacks, which has happened and will continue to happen constantly.
