Cyber specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense paralyzed the operations of the Russian Gazprombank.

An informed source in intelligence told Ukrinform about the attack.

"Cyber specialists from HUR carried out a successful large-scale cyberattack on the systems of the Russian sanctioned 'Gazprombank,' one of the top three largest banks in Russia. As a result of the powerful DDOS attack, 'Gazprombank' clients lost access to online banking and mobile user accounts. Hundreds of thousands of Russians were unable to make money transfers and online payments due to the non-functioning 'Gazprombank' apps," the source reported.

According to the agency's informant, the attack also blocked the operation of 'Gazprombank' terminals across Russia.

In particular, payment terminals for public transport in Tomsk stopped working. The same problem occurred in the public transport system of Voronezh. Due to the paralysis of Gazprombank terminals, the Samara Philharmonic sold tickets only in cash and exclusively at the box office—online purchases and card payments were impossible.

Russian media also confirmed the DDOS attack on the Gazprombank website, which stopped loading in France and Germany. In addition to the website, the bank's mobile app was also non-functional.

Gazprombank is one of the largest banks in Russia. The institution serves about 3 million individuals and around 45,000 legal entities. On November 21, 2024, the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on the Russian Gazprombank.
