Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk defeated Britain's Harriet Dart in straight sets (2:0) to advance to the third round of the US Open.
In the first round, Kostyuk won against American McCartney Kessler in two sets (6:2, 6:3) to reach the 1/32 finals of the US Open. Her next opponent, Britain's Harriet Dart, had faced Kostyuk twice before, both times resulting in victories for the Ukrainian.
In the first set, Kostyuk lost the first two games on her serve but managed to break back once. Dart maintained her lead until the tenth game, but Kostyuk pushed the set into a tiebreak. Despite losing three set points while trailing 3:6, Kostyuk won the tiebreak, converting her third set point.
The second set saw Kostyuk dominate with a decisive 6:1 victory. She dropped only one game at the beginning before winning six in a row, securing the match on her fourth match point.
