"Wounded Cross" will travel around the world.
Lviv Mayor Andrey Sadovy and his wife Ekaterina Kit-Sadova met with the Pope. They gave him a cross with a fragment of a Russian rocket.
This was announced by the mayor of Lviv.
Sadovy said that he had received an offer to meet with the pontiff. As a gift, the Sadovs chose for the Pope a cross with a fragment from a Russian rocket. It was removed from the wounded 13-year-old Nastya.
"In the photo, a wooden cross symbolizes the victory of good and truth, which was wounded by a fragment of a Russian missile. Wounded, but unbending, like all Ukrainians. This fragment was pulled out of a thirteen-year-old girl Nastya. Dad knows about it. I think everyone understood the symbolism very clearly," wrote Sadovy.
Pope Francis blessed the cross and will now travel to the world's churches so that the faithful pray for Ukraine.
"We also talked about the consequences of Russian aggression and the UNBROKEN Ukraine project. We launched it in Lviv to treat, provide prosthetics and rehabilitate Ukrainians who suffered from the war."
