In February 2025, the new stadium of Everton Football Club, one of the most modern sports facilities in the UK, officially opened in Liverpool. The Ukrainian steel group Metinvest contributed to this large-scale infrastructure project by supplying 1,000 tons of high-quality hot-rolled steel sheets from their Spartan UK facility, according to a press release by Metinvest SMZ.

Located in the historic Bramley-Moore Dock area, the arena became the new home for Everton, one of the founding clubs of the English Premier League. The stadium, designed to seat 53,000 spectators, replaces Goodison Park — the legendary but outdated venue that served Everton for over 130 years. Construction of the new stadium began following updated UK safety standards that require all-seater arenas.

A key feature of the new stadium is the innovative no-blockwork technology, which involves erecting structures without traditional brickwork. This approach demanded utmost precision in design and high reliability of materials. Metinvest’s Spartan UK steel was chosen for the main load-bearing structural elements due to its quality and performance.

It’s worth noting that Ukrainian steel from the Metinvest group was also the foundation for the new Den Helder support vessel entering service with the Royal Netherlands Navy. The ship’s construction required 5,000 tons of steel, including 4,760 tons from the Mariupol Azovstal metallurgical plant and 240 tons from the Italian Metinvest Trametal facility.
