At night, the Russian forces once again resorted to a combined tactic, testing air defense systems with a drone attack first, then bolstering resources with missile strikes.
This was stated by the spokesperson for the Armed Forces of Southern Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, during the telethon.
"During the drone attack in our area of responsibility, we observed Russian missile strikes, including in the territory of the Kherson region, where the Russian forces launched a ballistic missile of the 'Iskander-M' type, and from aircraft of tactical aviation from the Black Sea waters, they directed an X-59 guided aviation missile directly during the drill for a drone attack," Natalia Humeniuk said.
According to her, this time the drone attack focused on the energy sector of the Odessa region. The Russian forces launched drones from the Black Sea waters, and it was quite successful.
In total, 8 drones were destroyed, the debris of one of them fell on the territory of an energy facility, causing a fire, resulting in a short circuit. Both the facility itself and up to 170,000 subscribers were de-energized, according to preliminary data. No people were injured. Two more drones hit an agricultural enterprise in the territory of the Kherson region, people were not injured, and the facility was preserved.
"The Russian forces attempted to target certain objects with missiles, but the hits still occurred in open territory. Fortunately, people were also unharmed. The fact that the Russian forces combine drone, ballistic, and aviation-based missile attacks speaks to the attempt to exhaust air defense systems and achieve any victories in a combined manner," the spokesperson noted.
