NATO called on Russia to fulfill its obligations under the START Treaty

As stated in the official statement of the Alliance, NATO allies welcomed the agreement concluded in February 2021 between the United States and Russia to extend the New START Treaty for five years. However, Russia's failure to fulfill its obligations undermines the viability of the new Treaty.

We call on Russia to fulfil its obligations under the Treaty by facilitating New START inspections on Russian territory, and by returning to participation in the Treaty’s implementation body, the BCC.
