President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting in Kyiv with President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar on Constitution Day, describing the visit as highly symbolic. He expressed gratitude for Slovenia's ongoing support in Ukraine's struggle against Russian aggression and on the path towards EU membership.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the battlefield situation, particularly in the Kharkiv direction, joint efforts within the European Union, and the preparation of a bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and Slovenia.
They also highlighted the outcomes of the first Peace Summit, with President Zelenskyy acknowledging Slovenia's participation and President Musar emphasizing Ukraine's defense of both itself and international law.
President Zelenskyy informed about preparations for the second Peace Summit, emphasizing the need for coordinated actions among countries supporting the Peace Formula points to swiftly achieve a just peace.
President Musar expressed gratitude for Ukraine's assistance during Slovenia's severe flooding last summer and reiterated Slovenia's support for Ukraine, including an additional €5 million for humanitarian needs.
She underscored Slovenia's endorsement of the Peace Formula, participation in meetings on its specific points, and membership in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
"There is no politician who does not desire peace. We all understand the risks. But Ukraine is the country that should decide when and under what conditions it will negotiate. And here we are on your side," summarized President Musar.
