Norway, in collaboration with Germany, will deliver a full IRIS-T air defense battery to Ukraine this fall to strengthen its air defenses.
This was announced in a press release from the Norwegian government.
"The brutal attacks we've seen this week highlight why it's so important for Ukrainians to have greater protection against Russian air attacks. In cooperation with Germany, Norway will deliver a full IRIS-T air defense battery to Ukraine this fall," said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide emphasized that Ukrainians best understand what they need. "That's why we are in close communication with Ukraine when determining how exactly we should direct our support to the country," he said.
This IRIS-T delivery will be funded under Norway's "Norwegian Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine."
In addition to increasing funding for the German initiative to enhance air defense, the "Immediate Action for Air Defence initiative," Norway is also providing funds for international efforts to repair and maintain air defense equipment in Ukraine. This support is being carried out through third countries.
