From September 25-29, the Odesa Sports Palace will host the Anatoliy Khorozov Cup. According to the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine, leading Ukrainian teams will compete in the tournament.
In addition to the sporting events and youth activities, funds will be raised for the legendary 12th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine Azov. A portion of the ticket sales will be directed towards purchasing advanced electronic warfare systems to protect frontline soldiers from the Russian drones. Furthermore, the charity tournament in Odesa will draw attention to the defenders of Azovstal, who have been in Russian captivity for three years. Through this initiative, the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine reminds us that the future of Ukrainian sports depends on those who defend our freedom today.
This will be the fourth edition of the Ukrainian Cup. The first tournament took place in 2007, with Kyiv's "Sokil" as the winner. The competition was not held until January 2022, when it was renamed in honor of Anatoliy Khorozov, the first president of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine and the first Ukrainian inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Hall of Fame.
"Who will lift the Cup this time? An exciting battle awaits!" — says Georgiy Zubko, president of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine.
