The year 2024 is not so much decisive as it is pivotal, or more precisely, it can become a turning point in terms of waging war, stated Colonel Oleg Zhdanov, a reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in an interview with "Factory of News."
Zhdanov explained:
"Today, we have essentially shifted to positional warfare. Russia is still attempting to exert pressure somewhere, carrying out creeping offensives in certain areas. However, these are operations of not even tactical but local scale. The Russians are unlikely to be capable of making a significant advance or launching a large-scale offensive now. But we also cannot go on the offensive today to liberate our territories."
According to the expert, the situation, while not in a deadlock, is at an impasse. Everything now depends on our partners.
"This year should be a turning point in terms of changing the paradigm for our partners. Western politicians must realize that Russia needs to be stopped; it won't stop on its own. This, I believe, will be the main turning point," noted the analyst.
Thus, if such a shift in the mindset of Western partners does occur, they will give Ukraine the opportunity to defeat Russia on the battlefield. And then, there will be a chance to establish a more or less guaranteed security in the world, at least on the Eurasian continent, concluded Zhdanov.
