The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, held a meeting in Kyiv with the Estonian Minister of Education and Research, Kristina Kallas.
Zelenska expressed gratitude to the Estonian government, the President, and the First Lady for their support and the opportunity to implement joint projects. During the meeting, they discussed initiatives related to child protection and collaboration with the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
"Thanks to Estonia's support, one large family that lost their home due to the Russian invasion has received a new house built by my Foundation's team. You are independently constructing three homes for large foster families in the Zhytomyr region. This is an incredible form of support and a model for other partners," said the President's wife.
The meeting also addressed the mental health support for children and teenagers.
"There is a network of psychological support centers in Estonia that offers counseling for children, youth, and families. This could serve as a model for integrating such centers into the school psychological support system in Ukraine," noted Zelenska.
Additionally, she shared information about the introduction of new social-emotional learning programs in Ukrainian schools and Ukraine's membership in the School Nutrition Coalition. Ukraine will host a regional summit as part of this Coalition's work on November 12-13.
"The key topics at the summit will focus on ensuring quality nutrition for children in Europe and its impact on child health," added the First Lady. She invited Estonia to participate in the event.
