Operational Information on 21.05.2024 regarding the Russian invasion

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the Russian forces's offensive attempts. Currently, the number of combat engagements has risen to 74. Throughout the day, the hottest spot remains the Pokrovske direction, with significant Russian forces activity also noted in the Kharkiv region.

Kharkiv Direction:

• Russian forces have conducted 10 assault operations today aiming to breach Ukrainian defensive lines.

• Ukrainian defenders thwarted an attack near Slobozhanske.

• Ongoing battles are reported in the northern part of Vovchansk and around Starytsia. The situation remains under control.

Siversky Direction:

• The number of combat engagements has increased to 10.

• Besides ongoing active combat in Bilohorivka, the Russian forces attempted an advance near Vyiimka.

Kramatorsk Direction:

• A battle has been ongoing in the area of Andriivka since morning, with nine Russian  assaults reported since the start of the day.

Pokrovske Direction:

• Russian forces maintain high combat intensity, attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses 27 times. The situation remains tense but is under the control of Ukrainian defenders.

Dnipro Direction:

• The Russian forces initiated three assaults since the start of the day aimed at the Defense Forces' bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River, all of which were unsuccessful.

Other Directions:

• No significant changes in the situation. Ukrainian units are prepared to prevent Russian forces from implementing their offensive plans.

Additional Information:

• On the night of May 19, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian missile ship Cyclone of project 22800 in Sevastopol.
