Poland has deployed the first seven South Korean-made K2 tanks to the border with Russia.

This was reported by Wnp.

As noted by the spokeswoman for the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division, Magdalena Kościńska, the first tanks from the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem have been delivered to the 9th Braniewo Armored Cavalry Brigade.

"These tanks will be further equipped with systems used in the Polish Army, including communication means," the spokeswoman said.

According to her, the brigade received seven tanks at the first stage. The rest are expected by the end of the year. Currently, there are eight trained crews in the unit.

It should be added that the military unit receiving the K2 tanks is located in the city of Braniewo, just a few kilometers from the Russian Kaliningrad region.

The K2 Black Panther tanks are among the most modern in the world. They have high mobility, capable of maneuvering quickly over challenging terrains such as swamps and sandy soil. The tanks are equipped with precise targeting and fire control systems, a 1,500-horsepower diesel engine with an automatic transmission.

The K2 tank is relatively light, weighing 55 tons. It is equipped with a hydro-pneumatic suspension.
