President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy began his visit to the United States by visiting the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, where components for artillery and mortar shells are produced.

The plant’s capacity is fully dedicated to meeting Ukraine’s needs, particularly for the production of 155mm shells, which has significantly increased over the past year.

The Head of State reviewed the production process and spoke with the plant’s management and employees.

During the meeting, the President outlined the situation on the battlefield and emphasized Ukraine’s need for uninterrupted and timely delivery of the announced defense support packages.

“It is an honor for us to start our visit to the United States right here in Scranton, at this plant, in Pennsylvania. We are very happy to have such partners. Of course, we understand that the United States has been helping us since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, and we are counting on continued support. I thank President Biden, the U.S. Congress, and all the workers of such plants,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Among the main topics of discussion were the importance of starting joint weapons production in Ukraine and the possibility of American investments in Ukraine’s defense industry.

The President also noted that this and other American plants have already significantly ramped up production and will continue to expand capacity.

“There are 400 people working here. I really wanted to come here and thank you. 400 people have saved millions of Ukrainians. On behalf of myself and all our people, I sincerely thank you. You have helped us withstand Putin’s onslaught,” the Head of State said, addressing the plant’s employees.
