On February 4, a technological accident occurred at one of the high-voltage substations in Odessa region, a facility have been repeatedly damaged as a result russian attacks. At an extraordinary meeting of the Government, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal instructed to set up a round-the-clock government headquarters headed by the Minister of Energy, with the participation of the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, heads of the State Emergency Service and the Regional Military Administration, the head of Ukrenergo, representatives of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development as well as other ministries and agencies to eliminate the consequences of the accident.

"Emergency blackouts have been introduced in Odessa and the surrounding areas. The situation is complicated, the scale of the accident is significant, and it is impossible to restore power supply, including to critical infrastructure, promptly. The main goal now is to supply power to critical infrastructure and apartment buildings in which heating depends on electricity supply," the Head of Government emphasized.

The Prime Minister instructed to bring all powerful generators available to the Ministry of Energy to Odessa within a day. Also, a 25 MW gas turbine power plant provided by our partners from the United States should be transported to the city. The Head of Government also instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request Turkey for additional support in the form of power plants.

Denys Shmyhal emphasized that all the Points of Invincibility should work around the clock in Odessa. The Minister of Energy and the head of Ukrenergo went to the city to coordinate the activities.
