In the fifth month of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, a special military unit was formed in Moscow to recruit mercenaries.
Meduza reports this. The new formation was named "Sobyanin's regiment".
According to the publication, the unit is partially funded from the budget of Moscow.
Recruitment to the "Sobyanin's regiment" began on July 1. Under the terms of the recruitment, men under the age of 60 can enroll. Those who express a desire to fight against Ukraine are promised to pay more than 200 thousand rubles a month.
Within a month, the mercenaries will be trained at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and then they will be sent to Ukraine.
One of the recruiters for the "Sobyanin's regiment" is Roman Vladimirovich Vysotsky (call sign "Bulgarian") - the full namesake of one of the former commanders of the people's militia of the DPR. He calls himself a "battalion commander" in the "Sobyanin's regiment".
