The defense forces have documented 465 instances of the use of munitions by the Russian Federation containing poisonous chemical substances since the beginning of the large-scale invasion. Of these, 81 cases occurred in December of the current year alone.
This information was reported by the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Command highlighted that the trend of using chemical weapons by the Russian Federation is increasing. For instance, on a single day, December 19, Russia conducted 8 attacks using chemical substances.
"Most often, the enemy utilizes grenades such as K-51, RGR, and the hand-held gas grenade Drofa-PM, which are dropped from UAVs. However, improvised explosive devices equipped with irritant substances are also employed. Additionally, artillery shelling containing chemically hazardous substances is carried out. On December 14, 2023, the use of a new type of special gas grenade, RG-VO, containing an unknown chemical substance, was detected," the post reads.
It is noted that 28 cases of using dangerous chemical substances have been documented and forwarded for investigative actions within the framework of criminal proceedings by the radiation, chemical, and biological reconnaissance teams from the military units of the Command of Support Forces, jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine.
