The three-day “ceasefire” in May, like the previous “Easter ceasefire,” will be used by Russian forces to regroup, reinforce their defensive structures, and increase supplies.

This was stated during a TV broadcast by Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.

“Of course, their so-called ceasefire (the Easter one – ed.) was merely an illusion. We clearly observed the enemy conducting regrouping operations, strengthening and fortifying defensive positions, evacuating their casualties, and conducting logistical resupply. Literally the next day, we saw a 25% increase in artillery shelling and a rise in the number of munitions used. Additionally, the number of kamikaze drone strikes increased by 12–15%. I emphasize — the very next day. So the enemy used the ceasefire to freely carry out all these regroupings and logistical enhancements,” Voloshyn said.

He also noted that the Russians did not stop reconnaissance activities and attempted to clear paths through minefields in some directions, although Ukrainian Defense Forces prevented them from doing so. According to Voloshyn, the ceasefire announced by dictator Putin for May 9 will likewise be used by Russian occupiers to strengthen their positions.

“During these three days proposed by the top military-political leadership of the Russian Federation as a 'ceasefire,' I believe the enemy will again use the time simply to reinforce its forces,” Voloshyn emphasized.

Putin announced a “ceasefire” from May 8 to 10 to mark Victory Day, which is celebrated in Russia. During this period, Russia claims it will halt all combat operations. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that there’s no need to wait until May 8 to stop the fighting — this can and should be done immediately.
