Russian strikes cause casualties across multiple Ukrainian regions

A wave of Russian attacks across several Ukrainian regions over the past 24 hours has caused widespread destruction, fires at industrial facilities, and civilian casualties, according to regional authorities and official emergency services.

Bila Tserkva

In the Kyiv region, a large-scale fire broke out at industrial sites in the city of Bila Tserkva following a nighttime Russian missile attack. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES), the strikes targeted civilian enterprises, sparking significant blazes.

Over 100 emergency personnel and 34 SES units, including robotic firefighting systems, were mobilized to contain the fires. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Kherson Region

In the southern Kherson region, six people were injured over the past day amid continued Russian shelling and drone attacks. The targeted areas included dozens of towns and villages such as Antonivka, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, and Mykilske, as well as the regional capital, Kherson.

Infrastructure sustained significant damage: an apartment building, eight private homes, garages, a gas pipeline, and farm buildings were hit.

Tragically, on the morning of August 1, a woman was killed in the Dniprovsky district of Kherson after an artillery strike hit the area around 6:40 a.m. The victim, a mother of three born in 1974, died from injuries sustained in the attack.

Dnipropetrovsk Region

Two people were injured in the Synelnykivskyi and Nikopol districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region as a result of Russian drone and artillery strikes. Regional Governor Serhii Lysak reported that drones targeted the Vasylkivska, Ukrainska, and Mykolaivska communities. A 35-year-old woman was injured, and fires broke out at two farms, a high school, a post office, and a private residence.

In the Pokrovska community, a private house was hit. Preliminary reports indicate that two children were rescued from the rubble. Details are still being verified.

In the Nikopol district, a 25-year-old man was injured in drone and artillery attacks on the Chervonohryhorivska and Marhanetska communities. Damage to civilian infrastructure and vehicles was reported.

Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted and destroyed three enemy UAVs overnight.

Kramatorsk

In Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, the number of fatalities from a Russian missile strike on July 31 has increased to two, with 20 others injured.

According to regional head Vadym Filashkin, these casualties are part of a broader toll in Donetsk region, which has seen 3,384 deaths and 7,725 injuries since the start of the full-scale invasion. These figures do not include losses in occupied cities like Mariupol and Volnovakha.

Sumy Region

The Sumy region, bordering Russia, experienced one of the most intense bombardments, with 85 attacks recorded across 41 settlements in 17 territorial communities between July 31 and August 1. The strikes, which heavily targeted the Sumy and Shostka districts, caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

Russian forces used a mix of guided aerial bombs (KABs), FPV drones, and VOG grenade drops from UAVs. The Mykolaivka, Sumy, Shalyhyne, and Nedryhailiv communities reported damage to homes, garages, vehicles, and farm buildings.

Local authorities, supported by emergency services and civil society organizations, evacuated three residents from frontline communities as a precaution.

Kharkiv region

In Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, two men were injured over the past day as a result of Russian strikes. According to Oleg Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration. He stated that six settlements in Kharkiv region were hit by Russian strikes.

In Kupiansk, the injured men are aged 51 and 54.

According to Synehubov, the Russian forces attacked Kharkiv region with three guided aerial bombs (GABs), five Geran-2 drones, and three FPV drones.
