DTEK has calculated the total number of attacks on Ukrainian thermal power plants since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to DTEK's Executive Director, Dmytro Sakharuk,
"Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the forces have shelled our thermal power plants almost 180 times."
He mentioned that the attack on April 27 was the fourth major attack following similar shelling on March 22, 29, and April 11.
Sakharuk added,
"We are currently analyzing the consequences of this attack (April 27); the damage is significant. Four power plants have suffered quite substantial damage."
Russian forces continuously target thermal power plants in Ukraine. For instance, during the March 22 attack, all units of the Burshtynska and Ladyzhynska thermal power plants were damaged by Russian strikes.
On March 29, during another shelling, three thermal power plants in Ukraine were attacked, resulting in injuries to energy workers. A total of 160 strikes on thermal power plants were reported since the invasion began.
On April 11, during a massive assault across Ukraine, the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant in the Kyiv region was completely destroyed. Prior to its destruction, it was the primary electricity supplier to three regions - Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions.
Then, on the night of April 27, Russian forces attacked four DTEK thermal power plants.
