"Slovo House" will be shown in Prague

On October 11, the film "Slovo House" directed by Taras Tomenko, will be screened in Prague.

The film will be shown in Ukrainian with Czech and English subtitles at 20:00 at Štěpánská 644/35, 110 00.

Set in Soviet Ukraine in 1927, the film depicts the construction of the cooperative building “Slovo” in Kharkiv under Stalin's orders, where the most prominent Ukrainian writers are settled into comfortable apartments. All of them become part of an experiment aimed at creating a new type of Soviet writer and establishing total control over the creative process.

 

 

Unexpectedly, a little-known young writer named Volodymyr Akimov is assigned to live in the “Slovo” building. With his arrival, strange events begin to unfold, secrets that the walls of the building still remain silent about.

 

 

The story is based on real events.
