SSU detains another Russian agent who directed air bombs at Sloviansk

Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained another Russian agent in Donetsk region. He was performing the Russian task of adjusting airstrikes on Sloviansk.

The investigation established that the Russian accomplice was a 33-year-old local unemployed man. The suspect attracted the Russia’ attention by posting anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.

After recruitment, the agent began collecting coordinates to prepare a new series of Russian air attacks on the frontline city using drones and guided bombs.

Among the Russia’s priority targets were backup command posts, repair bases, and logistics warehouses of the Ukrainian defenders.

 

 

To identify the relevant locations, the offender surveyed the area, paying attention to objects with the highest concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Defense Forces.

In addition, to monitor the movement and number of armored convoys of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he arranged an “observation post” in his apartment, the windows of which overlook a roadway.

The collected data the suspect marked on Google Maps as “reports” for the Russian forces. For communication, he used an anonymous chat in a messenger.

To avoid responsibility for cooperating with the aggressor, the agent decided to “go underground” in his own home and “put contacts with his handler on pause.”

The Security Service documented every step of the Russian accomplice and detained him at his place of residence.

SSU investigators notified the agent of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law). The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
