Russia did not enter the renewed composition of the Council of the International Maritime Organization, a UN agency responsible for maritime safety issues.

The results of the voting for the new composition were announced on the organization's pages.

The Assembly of the International Maritime Organization elected China, Greece, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Norway, Panama, Korea, Britain, and the USA as members of the Council for 2024-2025. Russia did not become a part of it.

"A just decision, as no one has done more harm to free navigation in the last decade than Russia. Grateful to the members of the IMO for this responsible step," reacted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
