As a result of the repatriation efforts, the bodies of 502 fallen Defenders have been returned to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian Government.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Handling of Prisoners of War
Among the returned fallen Defenders of Ukraine:
- 397 from the Donetsk direction;
- 24 from the Luhansk direction;
- 64 from the Zaporizhzhia direction;
- 17 deceased returned from morgues in the territory of the Russian Federation.
The fallen Defenders of Ukraine were repatriated as a result of the joint efforts of the staff of the Coordination Headquarters for the Handling of Prisoners of War, the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine.
