On Saturday, December 9, it became known that the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Sweden, General Micael Bydén, visited a Ukrainian brigade engaged in combat on the eastern front.
The video of the Swedish general's visit was published by Ukrainian military personnel from the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade.
During the meeting on the front line, General Micael Bydén spoke with artillerymen and infantry soldiers who had undergone training in Sweden and highly praised their combat work.
Ukrainian servicemen expressed gratitude to the general and his country for the support.
Ukraine and Sweden are discussing the possibility of supplying Gripen fighter jets to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was discussed at a meeting between the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Sweden, General Mikael Bydén, according to the Ministry of Defense press service.
"Productive bilateral work is underway regarding the transfer of Gripen aircraft to us," said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Ivan Havryliuk.
He emphasized that there are "certain issues related to NATO," but expressed hope that "with joint efforts, we will be able to obtain these aircraft."
Bydén noted that the issue of transferring Gripen aircraft to Ukraine is being discussed at both political and military operational levels. The dialogue between the two countries is ongoing, and they are awaiting political decisions.
