Russian military forces attacked the Odessa region with strike drones from midnight until dawn, for four hours. Air defense forces destroyed most of the Shaheds, reported Oleg Kiper, head of the regional military administration, on October 8.
He noted that the attack caused fires in Chornomorsk and in the Odessa district, but no one was injured.
"In Chornomorsk, as a result of the attack, fires broke out in apartments on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors. Our firefighters promptly extinguished a fire covering an area of 100 m². Additionally, in the Odesa district, the ceilings and walls of an administrative and production building were damaged, leading to a fire that was extinguished over an area of 50 m². Another drone fell in an open area without detonating," the head of the OVA reported.
The Russian forces regularly attack Ukrainian regions, including Odessa, using various types of weapons, such as strike drones, missiles, guided bombs, and multiple rocket launchers.
Russian leadership denies that the Russian army is intentionally striking civilian infrastructure in Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians, and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and energy and water supply facilities.
Ukrainian authorities and international organizations classify these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are deliberate in nature.
