Russian forces launched both Shahed kamikaze drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles for aerial attacks on Ukrainian territory last night. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully destroyed five targets.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a total of nine drones were deployed by Russian forces in the attack.

"In the night, Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine, engaging four Shahed UAVs and five UAVs of an unspecified type," the publication stated.

As reported by the General Staff, defenders of the airspace destroyed all enemy drones of the Shahed type and one unidentified UAV.

"All Shahed UAVs and one unidentified UAV were destroyed by the air defense forces of Ukraine," military officials said.

Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Force, revealed that the enemy also launched a guided missile from a С-300 surface-to-air missile system from the Belgorod region (Russia) for an aerial strike on Ukraine.

"Four 'Shahed' drones were launched from Cape Chauda (Crimea), and five drones of an unspecified type were launched from the occupied part of the Kherson region," the general explained.

"As a result of the combat work of the anti-aircraft missile units and the crews of mobile fire groups of the Air Force, all four Shahed drones were destroyed in:

  • Kyiv region,
  • Vinnytsia region,
  • Khmelnytskyi region,
