The EU Council has approved an additional allocation of 194 million euros for the financing of the European Union Military Advisory Mission in Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).

According to the European Council's website, the overall budget for training Ukrainian military personnel within the mission will increase to 255 million euros.

The decision aims to continue supporting EUMAM in enhancing the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The financial component has been increased by 194 million euros, bringing the total amount to 255 million euros," as stated in the announcement.

As of today, over 34,000 Ukrainian military personnel have undergone training within EUMAM Ukraine.

As reported, the EU adopted a decision to establish the European Union Military Advisory Mission in Ukraine on October 17, 2022, for a period of up to two years.

In August 2023, the Ukrainian authorities acknowledged the significant contribution provided by EUMAM Ukraine and requested an expansion of training.

EUMAM Ukraine is set to expand its operations to include the National Guard, State Border Guard Service, National Police, and the Security Service of Ukraine under the operational control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As part of the EU training mission, Germany is also instructing Ukrainian military personnel in decontamination procedures following the use of nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare agents.

Training is conducted using specialized decontamination vehicles, with Germany having already transferred six such vehicles to Ukraine.
