As of June 30, 2024, approximately 4.3 million Ukrainians have received temporary protection status in the EU, according to Eurostat data.
By the end of June 2024, the EU countries with the highest number of Ukrainian temporary protection recipients were Germany (1,347,525 individuals; 31.2% of the total in the EU), Poland (965,775; 22.4%), and the Czech Republic (360,775; 8.4%).
Compared to the end of May 2024, the highest absolute increases in the number of beneficiaries were observed in Germany (+15,010; +1.1%), Poland (+12,520; +1.3%), and the Czech Republic (+4,370; +1.2%). The number of beneficiaries decreased only in two EU countries: Estonia (-1,245; -3.7%) and France (-80; -0.1%).
In terms of the number of beneficiaries per thousand people, the highest rates were in the Czech Republic (33.1), Lithuania (27.2), and Poland (26.4), while the EU average was 9.6 per thousand people.
Ukrainian citizens made up over 98% of the temporary protection beneficiaries. Adult women accounted for nearly half (45.6%), children for 32.4%, and adult men for 22%.
As previously reported, on June 25, 2024, the European Council agreed to extend temporary protection for Ukrainians from March 4, 2025, to March 4, 2026.
