Military units have been granted the right to mobilize reservists and conscripts who voluntarily wish to serve during mobilization.

The relevant resolution, developed by the Ministry of Defense, was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

From now on, conscripts and volunteer reservists can choose a military unit for service without contacting territorial recruitment and social support centers.

Commanders of military units are now authorized to directly:

  • Issue referrals to the military medical commission to determine fitness for service.
  • Recruit volunteers who wish to serve by conscription during mobilization.

The list of military units whose commanders will be able to recruit volunteers will be determined by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"We are making the most effective use of Ukrainians' motivation to defend their country from Russian armed aggression, giving them the opportunity to join the military service in the unit of their choice. Brigades now have the tools they have long requested—conducting quality recruitment that results in targeted volunteer enlistment. This resolution is a tool that significantly reduces recruitment time and ensures that everyone can join where their desires and skills align with the defense needs," commented Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
