German Economy Minister Robert Habeck arrived on a visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. He is accompanied by a business delegation.
This was reported by Tagesschau.
The focus of the trip is recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, emergency assistance, strengthening the Ukrainian economy, and economic relations with Germany.
During his visit, the Economy Minister also wants to prepare a conference on Ukraine's recovery in Berlin in June.
Upon his arrival in Kyiv, Habeck stated that the visit comes at a time when Ukraine needs any support in its fight for freedom.
"Ukraine is fighting for its self-determination, for its territorial integrity against Putin's aggression, but it is also fighting for the values that unite and define Europe," he said.
Habeck stated that Germany will continue to assist Ukraine in restoring infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.
"Ukrainians impressed me during my last visit with their ability to improvise and quickly repair their infrastructure again and again," he said.
Habeck wants to meet in Kyiv with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko, and Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. Then Habeck will head to Moldova.
