The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has announced the approval of around 10 new models of pistols and submachine guns, both foreign and Ukrainian-made, for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This decision is part of the ongoing measures since the onset of the large-scale invasion by Russia.

The arsenal of the Armed Forces now includes foreign pistols from renowned firearms manufacturers in the USA, Italy, and Belgium. Most of the approved pistols and submachine guns are of 9mm caliber, but there are also models with a more powerful 11.43mm caliber.

The submachine guns are noted for their lightness, compactness, and efficiency. They typically come with 30-round magazines, but one of the new models can be converted to use magazines with 15, 20, and 25 rounds. This model also features a folding stock on both sides and an adapter for attaching a silencer. All the submachine guns are characterized by their very high rate of fire, which is crucial in close combat situations.

For reference: According to the Main Directorate for the Support of the Life Cycle of Armaments and Military Equipment, the procedure for obtaining a NATO nomenclature code for a new sample of armaments and military equipment has been simplified to 10 days. Domestically produced armament samples that have undergone codification are permitted to be purchased with state budget funds.
