Pope Leo XIV has called for a day of prayer and fasting on August 22, urging people to pray for peace, particularly in Ukraine.

This was reported by Vatican News.

The Pontiff reminded that on Friday, August 22, according to the liturgical calendar of the Latin Rite Church, the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated.

On this day, the Pope urged the faithful to dedicate a day to prayer and fasting, “imploring the Blessed Virgin Mary to grant the gift of peace to the world, especially in Ukraine and the Holy Land.”

“Our earth continues to suffer from wars in the Holy Land, in Ukraine, and in many other regions of the world. I urge all the faithful to observe August 22 as a day of fasting and prayer, beseeching the Lord to grant us peace and justice,” said Pope Leo XIV.
