The referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union cannot be organized in the territory of Transnistria because this region is not under the control of the Moldovan authorities. This statement was made by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, as reported by DW.

"Election precincts cannot be opened in the territory of the Transnistrian region because it is not controlled by constitutional bodies," said Sandu.

The President also added that residents from the left bank of the Dniester can come to vote at polling stations on the right bank.
