The counter-intelligence of the Security Service prevented the attempts of the military intelligence of the Russian Federation to obtain secret information about the positions of the Defense Forces in the southern direction.
As a result of a special operation, an agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (better known as the GRU) was detained in Mykolaiv. The perpetrator collected intelligence on the deployment and movement of the Armed Forces units in the front-line areas, and primarily military equipment transferred to Ukraine from Western partners.
The traitor turned out to be a resident of the regional center who repeatedly expressed his pro-Kremlin views.
To collect coordinates, the attacker went to various districts and settlements of the Mykolayiv region and visually inspected the area. He used a video recorder hidden in the cabin of his own car to record military objects. He transferred the collected materials to the enemy using messengers.
The occupiers planned to use the relevant intelligence to launch a series of rocket and artillery attacks on the units of our troops.
