The Security Service conducted a special operation in Kyiv, which eliminated the international channel of illegal transportation of heavy drugs to Ukraine.
As a result of operational actions, the organiser of drug trafficking was arrested for trying to sell 1 kg of cocaine. The value of the seized "goods" is almost UAH 6 million.
The detainee turned out to be a local smuggler who worked closely with representatives of an influential South American drug cartel. Through his foreign accomplices, he tried to organise wholesale deliveries of cocaine to the territory of our country.
The "route" passed through one of the European countries, where the perpetrator received the "product" and then secretly transported it to Ukraine in his own car.
Later, he planned to organise his own extensive network of dealers selling contraband drugs in the Kyiv region. For this, he used personal connections, primarily among criminal circles.
Currently, according to the SBU materials, the issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.
A pre-trial investigation is underway to prosecute other persons involved in the international drug trade.
Crime detection measures were carried out by members of the Security Service in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region together with the National Police and under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
